Introducing Akron chiropractor Dr. Patrick Arena
Dr. Arena was a chiropractic patient before he became a Doctor. The school he attended was full of them. Injuries began early in his life, at the birth process. At birth he was a ten pound baby being delivered from a small built but very loving mother. Large metal tongs called forceps were used to pull him out of the womb. This trauma left an injury to his nervous system that influenced the way he would adapt to future stress.
As a rough, “play hard, think later” child, many more traumas occurred throughout adolescence. Developing into young adulthood, his passion for hard work certainly compounded further stress loading, until he eventually sustained a work related injury. After being treated unsuccessfully with surgery, a strong recommendation was made to visit a chiropractor. He took the advice and would later say, "Chiropractic adjustments gave me back my life. I not only was pain free, but I could think clearly and had abundant energy." This influenced him to want to help others, and he decided to pursue a chiropractic career.
After receiving an undergraduate degree from Allegany College, he continued on to Sherman Chiropractic College and graduated in 1980. His family’s health has benefited so much from chiropractic care that two of his four sisters and his brother-in-law became chiropractors as well.
Dr Arena has continued to develop his ability to help others with tools that work within the scope of chiropractic, which states that our bodies were created to heal themselves, and can do so if interference is reduced or removed. To this end, he has continued to pursue education over the last twenty-five years.
Dr Arena is married and has two sons and two grandsons. He and his wife, Jessi, enjoy creating gardens and raising horses.
